You need to give more details. Note that ip-up is not in any way tied to
the use of PAP. Also, remember that regardless of how you log on, ip-up
will be executed by root. That fact caused me problems initially since
if I log in as a lowly user using XDM, then root does not automatically
have permission to use the X server and I put up an xmessage window from
within ip-up. Don't know if your problem is related. If it is, let me
know and I'll tell you how I solved it. Did you check
/var/log/ip-up-errors? That's what told me what my problem was.
