Winmodems generally don't hide that fact. "Win" prefix will appear, usually
prominently. Winmodems normally don't work with DOS or anything but MS Windows,
but Net-Tamer (http://www.nettamer.net) has advice for one who is stuck with a
Winmodem:
U.S. Robotics "Windows Modems" - Call U.S. Robotics and tell them
that you need to get your VISA/MASTER card dial up program to work.
(i.e. pretend that you are a retailer). They WILL tell you how to
set up for a DOS program.
