I can't find this answer in the numerous faqs I've found.

I'm running Redhat 5.2. I figured out how to configure ppp, using netcfg.

But when I try to activate the ppp link, it says my kernel doesn't support
PPP.

I installed the full set of packages that Redhat provided, including trhe
dialup workstation set, which I assume covers ppp.

In redhat's faqs, it assumes that PPP support is already compiled into the
kernel, which I can't seem to figure out.

Where can/How can I add PPP support to my kernel?

Any help appreciated.
