The reason I tried to install 2.3.4 in the first place, was that I want
to disconnect idle connections after a specified period of time. It was
suggested in another mailing list that pppd supported either disconnect
or idle-disconnect commands.

pppd man page mentions nothing about such commands, so before I go
trying to fix the 2.3.4 problem, can anyone tell me if pppd-2.3.4 does
support such commands, or is there another command (either pppd related
or other linux commands), that I can use to disconnect idle sessions.

Not those that w, or finger show as idle when people are chatting or
surfing the web, but *really* idle sessions....

If there is some other way, I'll just reinstall pppd-2.2.0f (g?), and
stick with that.

TIA

And merry Christmas to all
