Mgetty seems to be working just fine with AutoPPP. Otherwise, pppd would
not have started at all (i.e. you would not have seen these log entries).
Therefore, any problems lie in your pppd options.
Add 'debug' to your pppd options (either in the AutoPPP line or in an
options file, see the pppd man page). Then post the syslog debug log for
a failed session (remove userid and password, of course). Therein will
lie the clues to the problem.
