PPP to WinNT

I´ve trace an ppp-connection,to a WinNT, using "netcfg"-tool, and use "pap-secrets". When I use a
pcmcia-modem(com2),everything works out fine, but when used my external-modem(USRobotics) on com1 you can see from the /var/log/messages, that I´ve got an timeout and connection terminated!???
