Hi all! I'm new to this list, so please bear with me. Here's the whole
story if you care to read on:
1)I was blindly trying to update my modem software from cua1 to ttyS1
2)I accidentally deleted cua1, and afterwards I could no longer connect
to the i-net
3)I decided to go ahead and upgrade my kernel (I guess I like the
"bleeding edge of technology") and everything else that needed to be
updated to get to the i386 2.2.5
4)Upgraded everything-including pppd to 2.3.5
5)I follow the installation instructions to the letter and come out with
this error whenever I usr X to activate my network connection or ifup
ppp#
*/usr/sbin/pppd: This system lacks kernel support for ppp. . . . .*
However, my kernel was compiled SEVERAL times with module support AND
ppp support. I even did the 'make modules; make modules_install' as the
INSTALL.linux file says (although it had nothing to do). *sigh* and I am
at a loss. I throw myself at your knowledge's feet.
