not sure how far you got but 
rpm -i ppp????.src.rpm
cd /usr/src/redhat/SPECS
rpm -bp ppp???.spec
cd ../BUILD/ppp???

./configure

edit the Makefile 

remark out the USE_PAM=y

if you are running SHADOW 

add USE_SHADOW=y

do all the updates to the files
then follow the directions in the README

and away you go
have funn
