I have PPPd 2.3.4 working fine with RH5.0 kernel 2.0.32. If you are using
kernel 2.1.1xy then I guess that you should expect the occasional problem,
stick to the tried and tested version in any mission critical system.
You are aware of the change in format of pap-secrets that happened around
pppd2.3.3, it now must have four fields.
