 I don't understand Your problem. You can login in with DUN?
You have in pap-secrets file the line:

*       *       ""      192...

where the 192... is your modem IP's? In mgetty the login.conf
looks like this:

/AutoPPP/ -     ppp     pppd auth -chap +pap login  ...?
