1. If you are going via an ethernet and you do not use modem, then why do you want to use pppd? You can setup TCP/IP for Ethernet adaptor on Win95 and configure your linux kernel for ethernet. And make sure both your win95 box and linux box has been setup with proper ip addr. and netmask. Now you can directly use ping or telnet! 2. If my above assumption is wrong, provide more details about your setup! 3. If you do not use modem, do you directly connect both linux and win95 boxes using null modem cable?
