Well, in my ignorant opinion, something like:
% kill `cat /var/run/ppp0.pid`
is pretty elegant. The process seems to clean up the house very nicely before
picking up its shroud and walking quietly to the graveyard. I am using
RedHat 5.1 and it comes with two scripts labelled ppp-up and ppp-down which
may be more elegant? I don't know, I've never used them or looked at them.
Now that I have a modem that works I am very pleased with Linux PPP.
