The PPP HowTo has pretty good sections on setting up both the "client"
(dialing) and "server" (answering) ends of a modem connection, and it has a
section on linking 2 computers directly over a serial (null-modem) cable.
Your setup is a fairly simple mix of the two, with the detail difficulties
in areas you haven't mentioned (like how your server wants to authenticate
the client).
I'd suggest you start with this HowTo, then follow up here with any specific
questions you have about how to proceed.
BTW, there is no such thing as "linux 5.2". You probably mean version 5.2 of
some Linux distribution (e.g., Red Hat, SuSE), and you might want to mention
which distribution you are using in any subsequent posting.
