More ot less, yes.  Some of the files are Distribution specific but
yes they are the minimun.  The /etc/resolv.conf file is also
important.  Without it you would have to no the IP address of every
site you want to connect to.  They are not hard to set up and once
done, Linus shines!  Look through the PPP-Howto for most, if not all,
the info you require.
