I have been running a small dial-in PPP server on Linux for several years now. As of late, I've been having problems with the PPP connection "locking up". The connection comes up as normal (31.2k dial-in, same modems on both sides- USR Sportster 33.6k) and after an indeterminant period of time, the connection locks up. I initially thought it was a modem problem, but after checking the modem stats, I see no retrain attempts (ie. the connection remained clean). My kernel is 2.2.10 (w/integrated PPP 2.3.7) and pppd is 2.3.8. Could this be the problem? Is anybody else experiencing similar problems?
