Same problem here running PPP 2.3.7 with Linux kernel 2.2.12... this problem has existed here for almost a year now (perhaps longer). I am very strongly thinking about not running Linux on my dial-in machine for this very reason, but I don't want to have to learn a new OS just for something which seems trivial to me.
