Since you are in Australia I recommend first disconnect the telephone. Especially the Telstra Touchtone phones have the problem you describe. Unplug it while you are online and you should be fine. Mike Frisch, You could try the same, but since you are in the US I cannot be certain. Could be something else. However I would not give up on Linux, as it is the most reliable OS I know.
