Would the "Hayes bomb" string "+++ATH0" have to be on a line by itself or at the
end of a line, or would the bomb have the same effect in the middle of a line?
What if there is one or more trailing spaces? Did that string hang up on
sending, on receiving, or both?
Regarding the string "xxxATH0", why would setting S2=127 or S2=255 be foolproof,
considering that x could be ASCII 127 or 255? With S2=128, I was able to send
this string in an e-mail message with x = ASCII 128, but I see it was not at the
end of the line. Program I was using was Arachne, DOS-based running in
OS/2 Warp 4 VDM. DOSPPPD can take unexpected disconnects; after I unload the
packet driver, everything is clean, no "busy" COM port. OS/2 PPP.EXE is not so
clean exiting from an unexpected disconnect, and I am not sure about the current
Linux pppd.
It looks like Diamond SupraExpress 56i is a TIES modem, and there is no NVRAM.
Can "ping" send a specified string? I didn't think it could.
To John Hasler <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
What does S12 actually do, why should setting S12=255 work better than S12=250
if S12 is guard time, in units of 1/50 second? If guard time is meaningless
with a TIES modem, then what is the difference between 5 seconds and
5.1 seconds? Or did you mean S2=255?
