Thanks for the pointer.  It got me close enough and I did find an archive
at http://www.linuxhq.com/lnxlists/, but it, and the kernel archive there
as well, is not being kept up-to-date.  In the meanwhile Hal MacArgle
correctly guessed the the particular message and sent me a copy.
