Hello everyone,
Seeing the discussion on ISDN and DSL, I have one for someone who is a
genius in Math.
We have a new DSL service provider starting up in town. He is offering a
64k DSL connection with a $45 monthly charge for unlimited access time for
home users. There is only one restriction. You are limited to 1GB download
a month. If you exceed this then you pay the monthly charge again. Download
as clarified by them means any kind of download ie. ftp, browsing, mail etc.

I also have an option for 64K ISDN connection for which the phone company
charges me usage time at 3.5 cents for a minimum 3 minute local call, and
additonally the ISP $1.12 per hour. I wondered which is a better deal ?
I browse about an hour a day and download the odd 1-2MB file a week and get
around 40 e-mails a day (with the odd attachment) but never kept track of
the bytes. To muddy the water, the DSL guys claim their downloads are
faster so you save time!.
Based on the above information can anyone tell me which is a better deal
and who I should go with ?
A related question is that the DSL provider will install USB modems. I
thought USB did not work with Linux ?
Regards
Rajiv
