There is a plugin for pppd-2.3.x which will do the authentication. Can't
remember the location off hand (been a few weeks since I tracked it down).
If you want to do radius accounting as well, you can use a bit of clever
scripting and the ip-up and ip-down scripts that are called by pppd when
the connection is established and when it is torn down.

Feel free to contact me if you need further information; I'll be glad to
try and help you out. (I'm on vacation until Monday, however.)
