to softraid:
1) softraid is usually faster, but at the expense of CPU time.
2) netraid has a battery backed cache, so in case ho power failure raid
consistency is guaranteed, this is not true for sw raid.

both choices are viable, it depends mostly on application use of
the disk.

the contrlooer supports this and also changing raid levels, never did this
with linux tough.
