It's not RAID-5. With RAID-5, you lose one disk in the array, so with 4
nines, you should see 27 GB or so of disk space.

You have some form of RAID 1, which is mirroring -- halving your disk
space for security. The only question is, is it plain RAID 1 or is it
an enhanced flavor, either 0+1 or 1+0. I'm fuzzy on what each one
provides over standard RAID 1 or RAID 0, but the easiest way to find out
is to see if your manual tells you what you can expect from losing
disks. How many can you lose at once without taking the array down, and
in what combinations?

Failing that, if it's a hardware RAID controller, the card should have a
RAID BIOS utility you can run on startup to examine your array. You may
also have runtime utilities. Whose card is in the system? (I know
"Compaq", but who really made it?)
