Ian,
You can make the Mingo's latest patch for 2.2.18pre work on 2.2.18pre21 by
replacing the lines "GFP_BUFFER" by "GFP_KERNEL" in raid1.c before applying
the RAID patch. The other rejects can be ignored. So, here's the full
procedure:
1. untar the 2.2.17 linux kernel sources in /usr/src/linux
2. apply the 2.2.18pre21 update patch
3. replace "GFP_BUFFER" by "GFP_KERNEL" in drivers/block/raid1.c
4. apply Mingo's raid-2.2.18-A2. It will switch the entries in raid1.c
back to "GFP_BUFFER".
5. check the other rejects. One is for Sparc or Sparc64 and one is for the
kernel version in the Makefile. Clean up if you desire and compile.
Have fun, mine works fine (I hope not by accident!) :)

Subject: Raid patch for 2.2.18pre21 anyone?
Dear All
I want to move to 2.2.18pre21 (for various NFS fixes) but the latest raid
patch from people/mingo/raid-patches/ is raid-2.2.18-A2, which won't apply
(it's against 2.2.18pre17 I think).
What should I do ? Does anyone consider 2.4.0whatever to be sufficiently
stable to do a few weeks of RAID5/NFS tests ?
Many thanks
Ian
