Compile problems

Dealing with linux-2.1.127 & raid0145-19981110-2.1.127...

The clean source tree compiles fine.  When I patch the tree (all
successful), I receive the following compilation errors:

fs/fs.o: In function `__bforget':
fs/fs.o(.text+0x38fa): undefined reference to `partition_name'
drivers/block/block.a(ll_rw_blk.o): In function `is_device_idle':
ll_rw_blk.o(.text+0x61): undefined reference to `find_gendisk'

Any ideas?  Please forgive if this is something obvious.  Thanks.
