I did manage to apply the 2.2.0 patch on the 2.2.1 kernel, compiler and
install. The problem was that the kernel bombed somewhere in checking the
partition tables. I did some investigation, but I abandoned it later in
wait of later patches (2.2.3, hopefully).

| Probably not, you may just need to create /etc/raidtab to reflect the
| proper layout and call raidstart. If you can find info vis-a-vis a
| persistent superblock, that may be the only change, and it is optional
| (i.e legacy systems should be supported).
That sounds like music to my ear -- I'll definitely check the 2.2.3
package ASAP.
