Root/boot RAID

hi, all,

I am using 2.2.3+raid19990309, then patch to 2.2.4, success created a RAID5.
running 1 IDE (hda), 3 SCSI HD. now the hda1 has full installation of Redhat
5.2.

now I want to make the RAID5 as root and boot.

I follow the software-howto (come with raid0145-19990309) section 3.11. if I
want to setup boot/root raid, I need to use "tar" to copy the entire
installation.

but I don't understand, how to use the "tar" command to copy?
