Yes indeed!  The most common question mailed to these lists seems to be "I
set up raid and everything is right but then I run mkraid /dev/md0 and it
just says 'mkraid aborted', what do I do?".

If it were possible to echo the error message that the kernel is putting
into the /var/log/messages file, that would (apparently) help a load of
folks out.  Even if it wasn't practical to do that right now, a message that
said 'mkraid aborted \n Further information related to this error can be
found in /var/log/messages'

After all, we want to help them help themseleves ;)
