You were lucky.  My kernel refused to add the 'failed' partition to the
array again.  The autodetection left a stuck inode allocated on it, the
exclusion from autodetection (by change the type) helped as a workaround.
This bug was fixed in mingo's last release (this weekend).  My advice is
obsolete now, I know.
