Well, for one major thing, GUI interfaces tend to be harder to script, hence
the concern from those of us who need to use kickstart, and would like to
install RAID through kickstart.
In another area, GUIs tend to be great for walking through a single run of a
program, but are lousy for batch updates. This isn't a concern for an
installer (although it is related to the kickstart issue), but for database
driven software it's often a showstopper.
I don't consider GUI inherently bad. After all, I'm sitting in a room with 3
Macs (not to mention the 4th Mac in my living room). However, muct as I love
my Macs, I know it took Apple well over a decade before they made the finder
scriptable, while that piece of sh*t called DOS was minimally scriptable from
the beginning.
