To repost an earlier message which has worked for me. I have even added
to lilo.conf the following.
append="pci=reverse" so that the disks on the card are seen first. Using
this you should see
Promise controllers mentioned in the block devices section when using
make menuconfig.

I've been successful at getting the Promise Ultra66 working under RedHat

6.1. I was worried I would not have the RAID autodetect that RH put in
the 2.2.12-20 kernel but all went well. Here is the cookbook receipe.

1. Let go of the 2.2.12 kernel
2. Download 2.2.14
3. Download eide-2.2.14.x patch from hendricks at www.kernel.org
4. Download raid-2.2.14-B1.patch from mingo at people.redhat.com
5. Apply the eide patch so you have nice Promise Ultra66 support
6. Apply the raid patch so raid actual works and autodetect works
7. Compile a new kernel with these activated

It works. WOW... The eide and raid patches don't even stomp on
eachother.
