More like WinRAID. :-) It's not really all that different from the
Software RAID tools provided for Linux, or the ones by Veritas for Solaris,
or the NT4 software RAID tools, except that it's implemented through a
driver interface, rather than just built into the OS (that said, I don't
know how the Veritas/Solaris tools work, that may also be a driver). It's a
concept that has it's merits for proprietary OSs, but sort of falls appart
for "free" projects, like Linux and the Hurd.

Actually, Adaptec recently purchased DPT, a long time hardware RAID
manufacturer. I expect that they will begin to sell some of the DPT cards
under an Adaptec label. As always, this is just IMHO, and doesn't
necessarily have any bearing on reality.
