I'm getting in trouble with my new Plextor CD-RW drive. Maybe you can help
me. It's a PX-W1210A revision 1.07. I cannot get this hell working 100%. It
burn cd's perfectly, but, when I try to mount any cd, it just refuses. Very
strange, because the same cd mounts perfectly on my other cd-rom (Asus 34X).
Even the cds burned in plextor I cannot mount.

Well, starting to discover the problem, first I enabled DEBUG in
/proc/sys/dev/cdrom. Everything seems ok, no one error message. But, when I
saw syslog messages again, I've noted something very strange:

Jul 1 03:39:22 vampire kernel: ide-scsi: The scsi wants to send us more
data than expected - discarding data
Jul 1 03:39:22 vampire kernel: Unable to identify CD-ROM format.

I've already talked with Jrg Schilling (cdrecord creator), explained my
problem, and he said that error may be cabling or in newer linux kernels (He
says the drive works perfectly on linux 2.1.118). So, I used the IDE cable
that comes with Plextor. Nothing changes, the same errors happen.

As Jrg says that is better increasing SG_BIG_BUFF from 32k (default) to
128k in include/scsi/sg.h (On cdrecord documentation. I know this is part of
scsi generic module, but at this time, everything is a valid attempt), or to
64k, didn't make any difference too.

        BTW: Tested on 2.2.18, 2.2.19 and 2.4.5

        Rodrigo
        (sorry my poor english)
