Well folks I am happy to report that the problem appears to be gone with 
2.2.0-pre3.  I wish I could have tested the new 2.2 series sooner but 
other things kept me from that.  Thanks to everyone who responded - 
especially on New Years Day - this will all be noted to our customers the 
next time they consider a new server and are concerned about support.
