Hello !
I've got big problem with my DVD-ROM reading whole CD images under Linux.
If I tried to read a whole data track with my DVD-ROM from a CD-ROM, there
are always some blocks missing at the end.
I'm using the following command:
SIZE=`isosize /dev/scd0`
dd if=/dev/scd0 of=image.iso count=$[SIZE/2048+1] bs=2048
The command fails while reading the last blocks and I get an I/O error:
"dd: /dev/scd0: Input/output error"
The CD has an isosize of 680519680 (332286 blocks). It seem to happen
(only?) on big CD images. The CD was a CD-recordable written with
cdrecord.
My SCSI DVD-ROM is a Toshiba SD-M1201 on ID 2.
I tried the same with my Phillips CDD2600 and it works perfectly. But I get
some errors there to (see below). This device has the ID 3.
I'm using Linux 2.2.10 with and SymbiosLogic 53c810a SCSI-Adapter.
MY QUESTION:
Is this an error of the scsi3-mmc cdrom driver or a bug of the DVD-RO ?!
It seem to be a software problem, because it works under Windows NT...
