I didn't do the job in my company for this problem, however, a few hints:
- when converting from 68 to 50, the 68 side should not have the
lines connected together and grounded, they should be terminated to
a resistor pack, possibly with a voltage regulator if it's active.
- _active_ termination usually has resistors (packs) AND a voltage
regulator IC
One easy way is to open the connector. Another is to check connectivity
with a voltmeter/ohmmeter.
Typical 68/50 converters will work only reliably if the whole bus is 50.
