I recently discovered that I get the following error messages in
/var/log/messages:

Actually, there has been an instant where /var/log/messages was flooded
with hundreds of these mesasges...
I'm using a SuSE 6.1 with Kernel 2.2.13, adaptec 2940 in a dual P133 box
(430HX). I have the feeling that this is related to my DAT drive (ID 3)
problem I
have since the messages appear when the DAT drive attempts to read a
tape.
The problem is that the DAT drive writes tapes ok but has severe
problems when reading them. I'm still struggling to find a solution for
that...
Every mass storage device (hard disk, cd et al) in my system is
connected to the
adaptec and all except the DAT drive is working fine.
Questions:
o What are these error messages about?
o Do they indicate a termination and/or bus problem (cabling etc.)?
o Is the DAT drive broken?
Please let me know if you need more information and please cc me since
