The only hang-up with putting Adaptec before BusLogic that I recall is that some
BusLogic adapters have an Adaptec compatibility mode. For those adapters the
Adaptec driver will find and control the adapter in this lower-performance mode
rather than the BusLogic controlling the adapter in higher-performance mode. If
you don't find your BusLogic adapter recognized as an Adaptec adapter you're
obviously OK.
I think Leonard Zubkoff sent out mail about this a few years ago after someone
changed the scsi/hosts.c ordering in the Linux distribution putting Adaptec
before BusLogic - that change which was backed-out.
