hot swap

I have a machine with hot swap, every time I add or remove a disk I have
to reset the machine so linux recognizes the new configuration. (I tried
unloading and reloading the scsi module, but didn't work)

What can I do for linux to recognize disks added or removed without
restarting the comp?
