It could also be that there are some bugs in the 2.2 series kernels. I
recall when I was debugging stuff in 2.3 that I ran across some problems in
the error handling code, which should also be present in 2.2. I should have
gone back and looked into these issues on 2.2 and brought back the fixes,
but I never got around to it. None of them were very complicated now that I
think about it. I will take a look at a simple diff of scsi_error.c in 2.2
and 2.3.99, as this would probably be a good starting point to refresh my
memory.
