You just want to slap the drive in the face to wake it up? How would you like
to have that kind of service in the morning. Not a very friendly alarm clock!
I agree with the complete initialization when an add-single-device is done. I
don't like the bus device reset. If this is on a shared SCSI bus then any
IO's just got cleared thank you very much (device or bus depending on the
reset).
IMO, Bus Resets and Bus Device Resets should only occur in an error recovery
situation not in "normal" operation. I would argue that initial detection of
a device is normal.
What problem is trying to be solved with the Bus Device Reset?
