Well, I devised a solution to my own problem though im not quite sure
why it works. Apparently, things work a little smoother if icewm is
started before gnome midknight commander(gmc). You can do this by
setting the order in which gnome starts xclients by useing the
session-properties utility. That might solve your problem too.

Hi All;

I tried to send an external email from my RedHat 6.2 server, while
connected to my ISP. Sendmail said the sender needed to be real.

my hosts file is

127.0.0.1 localhost localhost.localdomain gtech

How and what do I configure to have sendmail change <logon_name@gtech>
to <ispusername@ispname>???

Don't forget WindowMaker. I believe it comes with the 6.2...or you can
download it from
windowmaker.org.

I believe you can boot an option at the beginning of your /etc/lilo.conf file,
such as
"timeout=50" (for a 50 second delay before the default OS boots up).

pcmcia is a completely seperate package from the kernel, building the
kernel will not build pcmcia. If you upgrade to a new kernel you will
have to rebuild/install pcmcia. Have a look at the howto for pcmcia, and
you can get the source for it from the pcmcia site.

I'm a long time Windows and DOS user Before that it was mainframes.
This is my first foray into Linux, and I gotta say, Linux has
certainly put the fun back into the operating system. What a pleasure
this is to deal with.

My problem:

Redhat 5.2 distribution

I've set up 4 user accounts and given two of them all permission
Linuxconf would let me give them. When I am in a plain shell session,
no X, I cannot seem to create an executable (script) that can be found
in any account except root. I've checked my path and doublechecked the
upper/lowercase and I've verified that the script is set to executable
with chmod +x MyScript. Yet when I try to execute the script, I get a
"no such program or directory" message. Mostly I've tried this in the
/home/username/bin directory, but I've also tried it at
/home/username. The bin directory in question is on the path and the
script starts with #!/usr/bash which is where my bash shell resides.

I've been working my way through all I can find on chmod and scripts,
and I'm working my way through the network admin sections of four
books, but so far, no light shines. Any good ideas?

The first thing I would try would be to reboot the machine into single user
mode. From the LILO prompt, just type "linux single". If you're using GRUB,
one of the menu options is something like "Single User". Choose that.

If that doesn't work, you should be able to boot from a rescue floppy (you
*do* have a rescue floppy, don't you?). Booting from a rescue floppy will
give you the basic tool set that you need to fiddle with this kind of stuff.
You might have to manually do stuff like mount /, /usr, etc., but you should
be able to do it.

Good luck!

Being that my computer Also is on 24/7 and I have cats that
shed. I have to fully disassemble my computers once a year, run my
Vacumme (set for Blow) to get the crud out. and then follow by a full
vaccuming (set for suck). In addition I disassemble the external
STorage Dimensions HD case to do the same (its big, heavy and gets
full of crud). I also fully disassemble the power supply chassis (take
cover off. Clean fans and reassemble) You would be surprise of the
dust a power supply fan sucks in!
Also one might want to get a bigger case if trapped heat is a
problem!

I get the following error running ./confugre to install util-linux 2.10o:

something to do with NetKit, so I am wondering if an upgrade of NetKit is in

If i use "migrate" itshow nothing. When one

So how to configure mosix to work properly? I've
read the "man" but couldn't find usefull info.

Please advise where to find a good documentations.

/usr/bash ?? are you sure shouldn't this be /bin/bash ??
what does `which bash` return ?
is the path of the script in your $PATH ? (Well you say you tried ~/bin
too, so I guess this is not the problem) else try "./MyScript" or "bash
./MyScript"

Install the binutils package? ('apt-get install binutils', if you don't
want to use dselect and if apt is set up correctly.)

All you need to do is create a bigger swap partition, or even just
dedicate a swap file to it. See 'man mkswap' and 'man swapon'.

dselect will indeed be a bit on the slow side in 8Mb. You do get used to
it over time - I actually rather like the interface now.

Are you sure about that? That would be ... surprising. /bin/bash would

What did you do? Just swap the drives? Or did you change the appropriote
files (ie. /etc/lilo.conf and /etc/fstab) Where did you connect the
drive to ? hdb or hdc/hdd (the latter ones may be a problem)

Sounds like heat was the problem there... And it looks like you did it
all right. ::grin::

If there isn't a fan blowing across the hard drives, which do make a
fair amount of heat, it wouldn't hurt to put one it to keep them cool.

Just my two cents.

No idea. I have a (mostly) default crontab and have no such
