It is loaded as a module and my understanding is that I need
Ipmasqadm to forward the specific ports that CuSeeme needs.
No?

Hi,
I just installed a counter program for my web page.
When executing it manually from Linux, (./count counter.dat), the # in
counter.dat increments. However, when executing from my html page with <!--
#exec cmd="./count counter.dat" --> nothing happens.
I know that the html command <!-- --> means exclude but the procedure says
to use it. The command w/o the <!-- --> doesn't work either, however.
What am I missing?

Subject: Setserial/IRQ/Linux/Modem Hell.
Date: Sun, 24 Sep 2000 13:30:04 -0000

Oookay. I'm just looking for some ideas on how to sort my system out. I've
recently installed a SMC EtherEZ into a system running Mandrake 6.1. It
wanted IRQ 3, but I've set it to use IRQ 7, and it's happy with that. But..
my modem, on ttyS1 (which uses IRQ 3), is having dificulties.

If I boot normally, and try to run setserial to set the modem's IRQ, I'm
told that the device or resource is busy. If I boot into single-user mode,
I can use setserial with no problems, and use the modem from there. I can
also bring up eth0 from here with no difficulties.

I figure it's some kind of conflict with the ethernet card.. but... help?

Cheers. :o)

Disable virtual memory (swap space) and then run defrag. After you
partition the drive don't forget to enable the swap space again.

Subject: Linux and W98SE / Ping Linux from W98SE NOT working but can Ping W98SE from
Linux
Date: Sun, 24 Sep 2000 14:42:40 +0100

Hello Folks,
I am not able to ping my Linux machine from W98SE but the

smbclient -L turnbui

command does communicate and return the names of the shared drives/folders
on the Windows machine - ?? proving 2 way communication is OK!!??
I have examined the documentation on the Linux firewall but don't understand
if this is causing my problem?-I don't know how to stop it either? can U
help
on this?
On each machine locally I can Ping that machine by its IP addr and name and
127.0.0.1,
and can ping windows from Linux. It appears Linux is preventing the Ping
from W98SE
and even wierder is that sometimes during the Linux booting up if I attempt
a Ping one
of the attempts gets through up until the following Linux messaage during
its boot phase
 - specifically just after pcmcia [I'm using eth0 10/100MB] is initialized
comes a message:-
'Reentering interrupt ISR'
and no more replies from Linux.
The Linux newsgroups can't help - unfortunately.

Also can anyone show me the best way to copy a file to windows from Linux
using the Konsole command-line, and should I just use copy+paste in Windows
Explorer. I tried to use xsmbrowser but this reports "can't find
hostname" - probably due to the above problem??

Actually, I'm not using supermount. I guess I could try that to see if it makes any
difference.

BTW, does 7.1 have any documentation on supermount? 7.0 doesn't - or at least I can't
find any.

Subject: RH 5.2 -> 6.2 lost ppa
Date: Sun, 24 Sep 2000 15:48:45 GMT

Hi, Just upgraded from RedHat 5.2 to 6.2. Seems to be working fine (i.e. as
before), except that the ppa module (for parallel port ZIP drive) does not
load automatically anymore.

I added the line "alias scsi_hostadapter ppa" to /etc/conf.modules but that
didn't help. (conf.modules works fine for "alias eth0 ne")

If I manually type "insmod ppa" at the command line prompt, then the ppa
module loads and I gain access to my zip drive. But obviously, I want this to
happen at boot time, automatically.

How do I solve this problem? (I know that RH 6.2 abandoned 'kerneld' in favor
of 'kmod', but that doesn't explain why module 'ne' is loaded automatically
and 'ppa' not)

TIA,
Swengtoo

P.S. I do have the line "alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc" as the first line
in my conf.modules.

Mount the new drive with the new big partition created, onto
/mnt and use:
find /usr -print|cpio -pdmv /mnt
find /etc -print|cpio -pdmv /mnt
.
.
.
to move each subdirectory and file in the / (root) over to the new drive.
Skip /proc and /mnt of course.

Geez Winblows ME....Sounds like 1 step ahead (protecting important dll files),
2 steps backward (no DOS)
Is DOS really gone in Winblows ME? Does that mean I have to migrate all old

Hi !
I have installed Slackware on more PC and I think your problem can to be , who
the swap partition must to be a logical partition and not a primary partition.
The swap ( I think ... ) can't is /dev/hda2 they must to be /dev/hda5 or more
high ( 6, 7, ...).

Try and say me the resoult !
