Just a stab in the dark, but you many want to check that it's
mounting that /home partition.

I have forgotten which key is used to push a job (like a ftp session) active
to the background. When I do a ctrl-z it stops the job and gives me prompt.
I want to jump from my active app to a CLI and then back... thanx

Try booting the PC with the F8 key pressed to a DOS prompt in safe mode. CD
to the lnx4win directory and

I have used PM since its first release and only had one problem with it.
I love it, but that one problem made it necessary to restore a full OS/2
partition. The only safe way to do these things is to make full backups
of the partitions involved. Sorry!

It took me awhile to realize that there is a separate drivers.img in
the images directory. Once I downloaded it and created the drivers
disk, it gave me the option for my network card and all went fine with
the FTP install.

Hi,
I can't make my nfs shareing work, on my Redhat 6.2. Here is what I
did:
in /etc/exports:
/export/pub (ro,all_squash)
Then exportfs yields:
/export/pub <world>
and "rpcinfo -p" shows all portmapper, mountd and nfs have been
launched.
But whne I try to mount, I got the "Permission denied" error.
# mount export_host:/export/pub/ /mnt/tmp/
Permission denied
what is wrong? what else should I do/check?
besides, what command can I use to list all my exported dirs and their
attributes, just like "share" in Solaris?
Thanks!

I can see the prompt for user and password, but after entering the

/etc/shells and is has '/bin/bash', which match the info in my
passwd file.
here is my ftp setting in the inetd.conf
/etc# grep ftp inetd.conf
ftp stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd ftpd -l -d
Ok, that's everything I configured. What else should I check?

It should be backwards compatible. That is - you should be able to install
older packages.

Hay there,
1st check your SoundCard and Modem comes in the RedHat's Recognised List
for Hardware...
if they comes in it then ...
--> Soundcard ...
setup <Enter>
select SoundConfiguration
Press <Enter> as many times it wants ... and until you can hear any sound
from your speakers ...
then select Quit ....
Now your soundcard is Configured ...
--> Modem ...
If you have Internal Modem and if you are new to linux ... then forget
about connection between modem and linux ... coz its near to impossible
for new users of linux like me and you ...
If you have external modem then mail me for answer in detail ...

As stated in another post, the balanced form is impled by the
unbalanced equation. The question still remains, is
X --> P --> E
an equation... i.e. is it sufficient to say that the installation media
defines the construction of the program store P. And that P defines
the construction of the execution environment E?
Given that the execution enviornment is constructed, I would imagine
that you would agree that it is constructed from P.
P is tricker. The user supplies input. But that input could also be
supplied by a response file. Furthermore, X often includes code that
must be executed within E. Does this invalidate my statement?

That's the way it used to be done, but with RH 7.0, it's now a 2-CD
installation system. As I posted in another message, my particular
installation didn't ask for the 2nd CD-ROM, but I can't guarantee that
everybody will have the same experience.

Unfortunately it didn't work. I got the same error as for all the
other new-format RPMs.
Someone suggested a two-step upgrade, first to rpm version 3. Where
would I find that? I was able to locate only the current versions.

Your /etc/XF86Config file is not correct, try getting the specifics from IBM

plug in the appropriate values.
