Hi,
I don't understand why you use raid tools
I use several servers that contain NetRaid cards, and I never use that Linux
tools (I think you may use that only if you want to do Soft Raid)
Using NetRaid card, you just need to configure it with a specific CDROM
(included in your server package), or using the mini configuration tool during
the POST.
You have another way to configure your netraid card using a tool provided by
AMI on http://www.ami.com
Concerning Linux, you just need to install the megaraid.o driver, and configure
your partitions.
Hope this helps.
I'm at your disposal if you need more informations (send me direct mail)

Have a look at the Battery-Powered mini HOWTO (in /usr/doc/HOWTO/mini)
for some other tips. It goes through what is needed to stop the disk

I have a HPLJ4500 colour laser with a duplexor (double-sided printing) that works
like a charm under Linux as it understands PostScript natively.
Is there a command-line parameter that I can give lpr so I can force duplexing?
I've not found any Linux programs that are duplexor-aware. When I run Windows
under VMWare, there is a checkbox available for duplexing.
Thanks,

It looks like you're tryingto create the linux partitions as files on the
Windows 98 drive. As the windows partition is 2GB and the root partition is
3GB this causes the error creating the file. This then causes the other
error messages about failing to mount the loopback device (The loopback
device is where a file is used as a virtual disk partition)
You could either extend the Windows partition to use the entire hard disk or
persuade the install to use the empty areas of the disk. Never having used
linux4win I couldn't tell you which would be easier

The simplest solution is to include the required SCSI driver in the kernel
rather than as a module. Then you won't need any initrd at all. The initrd
solution is a way to allow a standard kernel being used on SCSI systems
without having to include every known SCSI driver in the kernel. If you
recompile the kernel for your system anyway, you only need to include one
SCSI driver.

Wo-ho, Carlsberg!
Well, the copying of the kernel and the lilo stuff is handled by "make
install". This is what I am doing (have check file dates and can see
lilo is being run).
I had problems compiling the kernel myself but RedHat said to use a
"make mrproper". I never used that command before, but it did make
things right.

a short question; please reply to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Is it possible to have two host statements in the DHCPD.conf

host NAME_A
{ hardware ethernet ID_1;
fixed-address ADR_X; }
host NAME_A
{ hardware ethernet ID_2;
fixed-address ADR_X; }
I'd like to have two computer act with the same identifier

Is this working, or is this not allowed within a dhcpd.conf file?

i.e. the disk it compiles is the same regardless of machine and nothing
machine specific is written, it is just that the files cannot be
compied onto a disk as the disk formatting is different from a DOS

I know Linux HDD partitions are formatted differently to DOS, I

Yes and no. Linux reads and writes to FAT/VFAT initialised media.

Yes. Linux uses ext2 file system which MS operating systems cannot read.
But Linux can read other formatting modes.

Do yourself a favor. Create the absolute minimum. When you become
semi-guru,
like in six month time, then you will know if you need special
partitioning configuration.
Absolute minimum working on my computers since '96.
Root partition, started with 300M and now it is 2.5G.
Swap which those days is 100M.
Never had any hickups from this direction.
Enjoy.

I've just installed Redhat 6.1 on my new WIndows ME computer;
I have done it several times with W98 and W95, and all went well.
However, it boots up normally, goes to lilo and then linux works
perfectly yet choosing the 'dos' i.e. Windows option just halts the
machine with the disc light left on, apparently doing something.
Using a boot floppy for Windows ME had the same effect - after some
grunting from the floppy drive, and no screen output, the same pause
happens, with the cursor flashing as though doing something!!
Can anybody help?
Will an upgrade to RH 7.0 (imminent) help?
