Hi all,
I'm trying to install Red Hat 7 on my network. I'll have to install a
number
of identical workstations on my network, so using kickstart seems like a
good
idea (we already use Sun's jumpstart, so we're fairly used to set up
this kind 
of installation). Anyway, I copied both installation CDs to my NFS
server. The directory
is export as (ro,anon=0). The server is a Solaris 7 box.

First, I did a standard CD-ROM install to make sure all the hardware is
supported. This 
works as advertized.

Next, I try to do a net install (not kickstart - I boot using the
bootnet floppy
image to get all the packages over the network). This doesn't work using
NFS, but works
using FTP. This is better than lugging the two CDs around (and faster,
too), but I want 
kickstart to work and for this I need NFS.

Anyway, using the bootnet disk, the computer properly gets an IP address
using DHCP (as
seen on my DHCP server logs) and the fact that I see connections coming
from the Linux machine
on my NFS server. In fact, here's the output of snoop:
(10.0.6.34 is the Linux machine I want to install, server0 is the NFS
server. The Red Hat CDs are 
copied to /export/jumpstart/RedHat7.0 on the server.

I am trying to setup a printer connected to my USB port.  I have a
slightly modified RedHat-6.2 system with a 2.4.2-ac12 kernel.  The
kernel was built without devfs support.  I already have one printer
connected to my parallel port and wanted to try to connect my
Epson 660 to the USB port with the parallel port adaptor I got with
the printer.  I tried to install the relevant kernel modules after booting
like so:

modprobe usb-uhci
modprobe printer

but it failed to register the printer device.  Below is the relevant
portion of my system log.  Does anyone have any suggestions?
Will this only work if I build the kernel with devfs support and run
devfsd also?  Or is there some other problem?

hello guys,
have any of you worked with hp jetdirect printers being shared through linux
or samba?
is it similar to setting up a remote smb printer attached to a win98 client.
does the jetdirect use netbios names? are the jetdirect printers independant
of the winNT or win98 computer running the jetdirect software?
