Spec marks aren't all. Your application will do more than
just blind calculations -- you also have to consider things
like memory bandwidth and needed address space.
If you need gobs of memory bandwidth or your app runs better
with more than 3GB of address space, then you need to choose
accordingly.
Then there's the integer / FPU thingy -- P-II is quite good at
integer calculations, but the Alpha just thrashes it on FP.
Choosing the correct architecture depends on many things,
SPEC marks probably won't help you a bit...
