Hello! I dont want to miss you a very interesting information from the Tyan technical support (Europe). I extended my motherboard (Tyan Tomcat IV 1564D) from 256MB up to 512 MB and I had to experience that the cacheable area is only for 256 MB. First Ive thought that it was a fault of the linux OS because when the bios detects the hardware it recognizes 524MB. Then I got a assembly program which examined my real cacheable area and it also said that the mb has only 256 MB cacheable area. When I asked the technical supporter from Tyan (Europe) he told me that this information is correct. I asked him again if this could be only a problem of my mb but he said that the information in the manual and on the Website is wrong and that the board was only build for a cacheable area of 256 MB. So I think that this isnt a good business practice of Tyan. When someone of you work at Tyan and knows it better than the technical supporter from Tyan (Europe) then please let me know.
