OK, I might be ready to break on this slot 1 issue. 2 cpu's and a mobo for
about $450 is very atractive, and having an overclocked dual celeron is quite
novel. It gives me the feeling of still screwing Intel, so the overall effect
of an egotistical surge might be enough to justify an over ride of a minor
pricipal. (But don't anyone dare ask me to get an AGP card or USB keyboard!! :
O)

It would also be a shame to waste my skills by not molesting the next
generation of technology, so if I do this, I'll look to push a custom bus speed
up towards 200MHz.

First question, since I've been out of the PII race:
What does the GX chipset get me over the BX? Anything useful?

Now how about recommending motherboards for Linux and overclocking?
I need 2 ISA, 4PCI minimum. Onboard SCSI, etc not needed. Onboard sound and
10/100 ethernet might be nice though (and save me some slots)

I have a Tyan Titan Pro (S1668D) now. A Tiger 100 (S1832DL) would drop right
into place, but I've not been real happy with Tyan. Poor BIOS updates and lousy
overclocking settings. I also think the Tiger uses the AMI win BIOS which
sucks.

It's nice to see the layout engineer at SuperMicro has been laying off the
crack pipe and finally put together some sane boards. The P6DGE and P6DBE Rev2
are both very nice and seem like good alternatives.
