I think the guy is wrong.

However, I have a system with both SCSI and EDIE disk controllers on 
the motherboard.  It seems the system can see either one motherboard 
disk controller or the other.  My intention to put Windows/NT on EDIE 
and LINUX on SCSI was foiled by that limitation. I suppose I could 
use an external SCSI adapter but I never tried.
